with the launch of his website and new music on the way, we thought we would take the chance to learn a little bit more about this texas native in an exclusive interview.

pt. 1: A clean slate

James: In april, you went blank on all your socials. this is a strategy a lot of artists use when they embark on a new era. was there a reason for this?

CHase: well, yes. people that have been following me for years know that i used my instagram account for posting personal content and life related things, but i was about to start my first era-as artists call it and I wanted a clean slate to make my promotional content look nice and fresh and to grow my fan base. i had a lot of stuff that was in the process of being filmed or shot and that all had to be put on hold due to what's going on right now.

James: But you had to erase all of your social media accounts?

Chase: yeah this was a big deal for me, because i had posted lots of content over the years. it's not all gone but it's archived for now. you know i wanted everything to be organized. i mean this was all supposed to have happened very soon, I was supposed to start promotion the following week that i erased everything, but s**t went down. My followers will wait for me, i'm sure. they've been very supportive throughout the years.

Pt. 2: Music

James: can you tell me a little bit about your musical background?

CHase: I have loved writing music since i was little. i loved performing for my friends and family, I would always put on concerts at our home. it was something i was truly passionate about, my one dream for as long as i can remember was that i would someday be able to perform a real concert for people. I mean, that still is my dream today. as i got older and started going through real s**t i could write about, i noticed that i had a real ability to articulate my emotions. i mean i have probably written over a 100 songs already. this ep is just me dipping my toes in the water, there is so much more to come and not too far away.

james: what is your sound like?

Chase: It's very poppy, I would say. The genre i tend to lean toward writing in the most is pop. this new ep is purely pop with a tad of hip-hop influence as well.

james: who are your favorite artists currently?

Chase: it changes everyday literally. i am constantly discovering new artists that amaze me. i honestly love exploring in the singer-songwriter or independent artist fields because there are so many great songs that nobody even hears because it's not top 40. There's just an insane amount of talent out there, that even i haven't even scratched the surface of. I'm not really answering the question am I? Sorry I tend to get sidetracked-uh right now i love billie eilish, lewis capaldi, lauv, greyson chance who i recently discovered,  and i really like twenty one pilots.

James: Go to song at the moment?

CHase: golden by harry styles. fantastic song. oh also I wish you were sober by conan gray. i just heard it for the first time last week, and haven't stopped listening to it.

Pt. 3: Personal background

James: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Chase: I enjoy working out, being outside, playing soccer, reading, writing, uh-hanging out with friends, going out, yeah just that stuff really.

James: What do you hate about your generation?

CHase: f**k well a lot. alright, honestly the thing i hate the most is how fake everyone is my age and also how attached everyone is to their phones.

James: Biggest regret in high school?

Chase: trying too hard to be cool.

James: what are you majoring in college?

Chase: right now business management, but my head's all over the place. there's so much i wanna do in life, it's so hard to narrow it to one degree and ugh it stresses me out all the time.

James: wanna tell me a little bit about your family?

Chase: sure, not too much though. i have two amazing parents, a younger brother and a younger sister. we have three dogs as well, which is very chaotic. our family dynamic is hilarious, all of us are super competitive and jokesters so it always makes for a good time.

James: Did you play sports growing up?

Chase: yes, for almost all of my life i was heavily involved with sports. I have played basketball, baseball, and soccer. soccer went beyond the 6th grde though, the others did not. i played club and school soccer all the way up until my sophomore year when i tore my acl. then after 7-ish months of recovery, I played again until i tore the same knee again within a few months. after the reconstructive surgery, i had to go through 9 more months of therapy and i decided to quit club, and just play high school. that was really hard for me, i knew by quitting club i wasn't going to be able to play college ball which was always the goal. i truly felt as though i would not be able to keep up with the competition anymore with  how damaging these injuries were and how they affected me. at that point, i just wanted to at least be with my best friends at school and play my last season as a senior. sob story i know, it really was, but everything happens for a reason and i have no regrets.

James: well thank you so much for your time, i feel as though i know you better already!

Chase: I do hope so, that was the goal. it's always a pleasure james!

Be sure to check out chase's new ep available everywhere on august 7th!
